Franz Waxman's 100th Birthday Tribute on TCM – Dec. 18–19
Golden Age composer will be saluted with classic movies line-up

Composer Franz Waxman – born 100 years ago this month – will be the subject of a day-long centennial birthday tribute on Monday, Dec. 18 and into Tuesday, Dec. 19, on Turner Classic Movies.

Twelve of Waxman's films, many of them representing his finest work in Hollywood, will occupy more than 24 hours of the all-movie cable channel's schedule. Robert Osborne will host the marathon.

In addition, TCM has produced four five-minute mini-features chronicling Waxman's life and work on specific films. These have already started airing as interstitial programming at various times during the day.

Waxman, a two-time Oscar winner, was born December 24, 1906, in Konigshutte, Upper Silesia, Germany. He died February 24, 1967, in Los Angeles.
