ShowBusiness: The Road To Broadway Opens New L.A. Westside Venue
Acclaimed documentary film goes beyond the boards of the 2003-2004 Broadway season

Los Angeles, Calif.—ShowBusiness: The Road to Broadway, a new feature-length documentary by three-time Tony-winning Broadway producer Dori Berinstein, opens June 1 at the new cutting-edge Landmark theatre in the Westside Pavilion, West Los Angeles.

ShowBusiness follows four high-profile musical productions from the 2003-2004 Broadway Season – Wicked; Taboo; Caroline, or Change; and Avenue Q – through the course of casting and rehearsals, into opening night and up to the season's Tony Awards.

Director Berinstein (currently producing her eleventh Broadway-bound show, Legally Blonde – The Musical) was allowed unprecedented backstage access to capture the creative and often challenging process of mounting a stage musical on Broadway. Appearances include such Broadway notables as Rosie O'Donnell, Boy George, Alan Cumming (co-producer of ShowBusiness), Tonya Pinkins, Stephen Schwartz, Kristen Chenoweth and John Tartaglia. The film also highlights prominent stage reviewers in debate about the productions.

"It was a sheer labor of love to chronicle a Broadway season and experience first hand the hopes, dreams, and passions of the people who devote their lives to the theater," said director/producer Dori Berinstein. "The Broadway community couldn't have been more supportive and my hope is to give audiences a glimpse of what really goes on behind the curtain."

ShowBusiness was a 2006 International Documentary Association (IDA) Distinguished Documentary Award Finalist and a feature finalist for Best Documentary of 2006. It also won the Best Documentary Feature Grand Jury Prize at the 2006 Florida Film Festival and is currently touring major U.S. cities.

The film will inaugurate the highly anticipated Landmark multiplex at 10850 West Pico Blvd. (at Westwood Blvd.) in West Los Angeles. With twelve new state-of-the-art auditoriums, the venue promises top luxury, gourmet food, a full-bar lounge, free and plentiful parking, and an environmental slant.
